Ancestral Lineage; A Nature-Based Exploration with Wendy Robertson Fyfe

“(…) The field finds its source in the old forest, in the thicket that returned to cover it, in the dark wilderness of its soil, in the dispensations of the sky, in our times, in our minds—

the righting of what was done wrong. (…)” - Wendell Berry

This course explores Ancestral Lineage as animate in our DNA and in the world influencing our daily lives; that we do not honour our Ancestors in the current Western Culture is a wounding. Utilising Deep Imagination, poetry, council, ceremony and wanders on the land before and between the workshops we will court the Ancient Ones again and weave threads of our personal and collective stories in service also of the future ones together.

Part of the way of this work is to open to surprise and the unexpected. The course also works towards re-sacralising ourselves and the world. There will be invitations offered to prepare for both ‘dates’ for meeting.

- Practitioners who are interested in, curious and want to put a toe in, or who already have experience of exploring nature/eco-based work with questions about what it means to be human at this historic moment of emergency/shift in human consciousness; of how our understanding of such questions root our practice.

- Practitioners who want to go, or who already go, beyond ‘individualistic’ ways of working with people to include a longer, deeper, wider understanding of ourselves and our work. In these workshops, Ancestral Lineage. Ancestors are in our bones and in the air we breathe so how do we remember they are here and allow ourselves to be worked by them more consciously.

- Practitioners who experience a sense of ‘being stuck’ over time as well as with clients can also act as a signpost towards our Ancestral Lineage.

- Practitioners who wonder about what kind of Ancestor we intend, perhaps even long, to be and to bring such questions/awareness into our practice.

5. In a death denying culture, the participants will also experience further the importance of the death/life cycle in our work.

I’ve never participated in a nature-based/eco workshop, would these workshops be a good entry point?

Yes, no previous experience is expected on these workshops, though experience is also welcome.

Will l need to go out wilderness places to participate in the workshop.

Yes, though access to a park or patch of land or ie tree even in the city will work. Great if you can befriend a particular place or tree, bush, sky, ground, plant etc through the workshops. Even better if you can let yourself be surprised about who/where that might be. The workshop is also about our inner wildness and where the inner and outer wildness bridge. It will be essential to offer time outside both before and between workshops.

I know very little about my Ancestors, can l still participate. Yes, the work is also about accessing the deep imagination.

I’m adopted, and have no knowledge of my birth family. How does the workshop relate to my situation?

The workshop explores the relations between our body cells/DNA through Deep Imagination. The workshop contributes to a way of ‘coming home’. The world in which we live is full of the breath of all the ones who have gone before.

Will l need to attend Onlinevents live interview or watch it in the Library before the workshop?

Doing so is highly recommended and will be assumed. (You can register for the LIVE recording here)

I'm not very technical. How will I manage an Online Workshop?

Before the workshop, you will have a one-to-one session with a colleague from Onlinevents who will take you through the technical part. It's not complicated, and if you have basic computer skills you should manage fine.  You will need a webcam with sound to fully participate, but again, this will be covered in the tech session. You can access the workshop from a variety of devices. Read More about our online workshops

There are very few workshops that include so many levels of being: personal, cultural, historical, Eco-based in relation with Ancestral Lineage. Yet there is a deep longing for such roots as we can see in the Clan Lineage industry. This course is visionary and for practitioners who are exploring, curious, or interested in future directions for future life at a time of emergency. It is a taste of the work.

Our culture is so deeply cut from its true and authentic Ancestral roots both from the land and the Ancient well of our biological Ancestors, nature and culture. It is therefore not surprising that we are living in emergency times. Emergency also includes the word ‘emerge’ within it as a way of highlighting what is waiting to come forth. These workshops offer a way to attend to what/who wants to emerge at this time in a deep way that feeds us personally, in the world today and for the future ones to come when we offer our attention. I am passionate about this lifetime work.

  • Mind-blowing

  • Inspirational

  • Disturbingly-grounding

I'm a Renaissance woman; a nature-based soul-centric guide and mentor, poet, writer, psychosynthesis psychotherapist, and photographer. I previously worked as a Cultural Historian, researching the development and professionalism of/allies between medicine and law from the 19th Century in England with regard to redefining women's bodies and social roles and then Associate Lecturer at The Open University in Scotland. In 1995, The Wild, in the form of an Autumn Spruce along the Findhorn River, Scotland, invited me to sing and I joined in with a deeper song. In 2001, I first offered 'The Walk' in East Lothian, filmed by BBC Scotland. My listening eye has since led me to all sorts of awe-inspiring and wondrous places around the globe.

I am passionate about, and committed to, this historic moment of 'The Great Turning' and through my journeying into and over lands experience deeply Earth's urgency for us to dive down to Holy roots; to our inheritance in Imagination and Intelligence of Earth's Dreaming claiming our original mythopoetic voices.... returning with our unique and wild notes in service of Earth Community.

I live in Dunbar, Scotland, the birthplace of John Muir. I'm deeply involved with bringing the work of the Animas Valley Institute to Europe and am currently a Senior Apprentice with Bill Plotkin and the Animas Valley Institute.

New Workshop Programme

We are acutely aware that for many colleagues in the helping professions travel is extremely difficult due to time, money and health constraints. We are developing this programme so that the workshops offered by experienced trainers from all over the world can also be accessed by you from the comfort of your own home

This workshop will be hosted in the Zoom meeting platform which has all the resources we need to create an experiential group learning environment. The workshops will have access to an online group room, breakout rooms for small groups, whiteboards for creating and sharing resources and the capacity to communicate with voice and text.

How Do I Join the Workshop?

One week before the date of the workshop you will receive an email which will include a clickable link to join the workshop. About 10 minutes before the workshop is about to begin please goto this email and click on the link. This will open the Zoom meeting on your computer or mobile device.

When you register for the workshop you will receive an email with an invitation to meet a colleague from the onlinevents team in Zoom who will help you orientate to the Zoom environment. Because the workshop will require the use of the camera and microphone on your computer or mobile device we want to help you feel confident using your technology.

Please note that we are requiring that all workshop participants meet with a colleague from the onlinevents team before participating in the onlinevents workshop programme so that the workshop can begin and run smoothly. Any colleagues who do not respond to the invitation for the pre-workshop meeting will not be able to join the workshop.
