About The Event

Domestic violence and abuse is a common aspect of the Counselling process. In this extended workshop we look at how to identify DVA, how to work with it safely and how to help the injured party to move to safety. It’s not an easy thing to work with the complexities of DVA and it’s hard to remain impartial from our emotions when Clients are describing their abusive life.

The first step is becoming aware that DVA is a feature of the work with the Client, this workshop will show you how to do this. The next step is to help the client understand they are in an abusive relationship, denial is a common theme in this work. The last part is to be able to help the Client journey to a safe place and lead a non-abusive life. Join me in looking at all these things and become more aware and better placed to help Clients through it.

Workshop Outcomes

- Understanding what is DVA

- How to identify it in relationships

- Awareness of the blocks to change

- How to positively effect and impact on those relationships.

- Build healthier and more productive relationships
